Jamie Ellis' bankruptcy-order source packet

Send the docket, order and authority clues before the file becomes a bankruptcy scramble.

For agents, lenders and attorneys: organize the bankruptcy court, docket, trustee or debtor, sale/order, lien, lender and title-commitment clues so the right reviewer can answer the right question.

Audience and job

Make a bankruptcy file easier to route.

Bankruptcy-related closings can mix court orders, docket entries, trustee authority, debtor authority, lender conditions, lien questions and title requirements. This handoff keeps the sources separated before the file turns into a closing-day search for the right bankruptcy or underwriting reviewer.

The useful handoff

Name the bankruptcy court, case, docket item, order, trustee or debtor-in-possession clue, lien/payoff item and title-commitment question you have. The court order, attorney advice, lender, title commitment and underwriting review still control the file-specific result.

Official sources

Use current bankruptcy, court and TDI sources.

These sources were checked on September 24, 2026. They help frame the bankruptcy-order packet, but they do not replace court, bankruptcy-attorney, lender, title, underwriting or legal review.

Northern District of Texas Bankruptcy Court, read September 24, 2026

Start with the court and docket source.

The Northern District of Texas Bankruptcy Court site links to PACER, CM/ECF, electronic bankruptcy noticing, proof-of-claim filing, local rules and court locations. Send the court, case number, chapter, docket item and order PDF you have instead of summarizing the legal effect yourself.

PACER TXNB court lookup, read September 24, 2026

Keep the case lookup and division clues together.

PACER's Texas Northern Bankruptcy Court profile lists CM/ECF access, help desk contacts, divisions, counties and docket flags. Use it to identify the correct court source, not to decide whether a filing, order, stay, sale or discharge changes title to a specific property.

11 U.S.C. Section 363, read September 24, 2026

Send the sale-authority source when a sale order is involved.

The official U.S. Code text for Section 363 is the source to cite when a file includes a motion or order about use, sale or lease of property. The order, docket, attorney guidance, lender review and underwriting still decide what the closing team can rely on.

U.S. Courts Bankruptcy Basics, read September 24, 2026

Use the federal overview for roles and vocabulary.

U.S. Courts Bankruptcy Basics describes the bankruptcy process and chapter vocabulary in public terms. Use it to label the case context, trustee or debtor-in-possession clue, automatic-stay question or discharge/order reference without giving bankruptcy advice.

TXNB Local Rules, revised July 16, 2025; read September 24, 2026

Check local procedure without guessing the file answer.

The Northern District of Texas local bankruptcy rules are the local-procedure source for the court. Send the rule or docket clue to the attorney, lender, title team or underwriter instead of turning it into a closing instruction.

What to send

Give each reviewer the bankruptcy source they can verify.

A bankruptcy-order handoff does not need to decide authority, order effect, lien survival, payoff sufficiency, title coverage, lender approval or underwriting acceptance. It needs enough source context for the right professional to identify the next step.

  1. Property address, county, contract status, target closing date and whether the file involves a sale, refinance, bankruptcy sale order, relief-from-stay order, discharge, trustee deed, debtor deed, plan, motion, lender condition, lien item or title-commitment requirement
  2. Bankruptcy court, district, division, case number, chapter, debtor name, trustee or debtor-in-possession name, docket item number, order date, sale motion, sale order, notice, proof of service, closing authority clue or attorney contact already available
  3. Names of the seller, buyer, lender, bankruptcy attorney, debtor's counsel, trustee, trustee's counsel, closing attorney, title-company contact, underwriter contact or creditor/payoff contact whose review may be needed
  4. Instrument number, title-commitment item number, PACER/CM/ECF docket citation, order exhibit, property description, lien/payoff clue, plan-confirmation clue, release clue and any public-source URL already found
  5. One process question for the title team, lender, bankruptcy attorney, trustee, underwriter, payoff contact or court-record source before the file reaches funding or signing pressure
What to avoid

Keep bankruptcy and title conclusions out of the first note.

  • Do not decide whether the bankruptcy estate, debtor, trustee, debtor-in-possession, plan, sale order, stay order, discharge, abandonment or release gives someone authority to close.
  • Do not decide lien survival, priority, payoff sufficiency, exemption status, homestead effect, notice sufficiency, order finality, appeal risk, plan effect or discharge effect.
  • Do not draft bankruptcy pleadings, sale-order language, legal objections, trustee deeds, releases, title objections, lender conditions, payoff instructions or attorney legal cures.
  • Do not promise lender approval, funding, title coverage, underwriting acceptance, bankruptcy-court timing, recording acceptance or a closing date.
